Women Living Longer, Healthier


doctorsWomen over 50 years old are healthier and live longer than ever, according to a new study by the World Health Organization.

Women over 50, on average, have added 3.5 years to their lives over the last 20 years due to strides in the treatment of infectious diseases like the flu. Japanese women live the longest.

Not surprising, most of these gains were made by women in rich countries; women in poor countries still die early because of a dearth of options for detection and treatment of noncommunicable diseases. Read more at The New York Times.
