Tragedy in Modiin Illit: Boy Left in Car Passes Away

candle-small6The greater Modiin Illit community has been plunged into mourning with the news of the passing of a four-year-old boy, who was found this afternoon in a car after having been forgotten there. Police said the child was the locked vehicle for a number hours.

Sources state that the young boy was picked up in the morning by his teacher, who drives his students to school, but the teacher, it appears, didn’t notice that one of the boys – who had fallen asleep during the ride – was left in the car. At about 1 p.m., the teacher returned to the vehicle and found the boy.

A doctor was summoned, but the boy was pronounced dead, having sat in the hot car on Rechov Yechezkel in Brachfeld for hours.

An investigation has been launched.

  1. This is a terrible tradgedy. This is happening way to often. With today’s technology, there has got to be a way an alarm goes off if a seat belt is still fastened, just like if you leave the keys in the egnition & you open the door. There should be some sensors. May we hear of no more tzaros!

  2. Hashem yerachem! What will happen to this teacher? And this boy’s family… how will they possibly deal with this? Accident or not, the end result is horrific for all concerned.

  3. Why when someone is looking for a new car he gets the best one , but when it comes to safety ( like getting alarm for the safety of a child ) even for a million dollars it would be worth it by the end of the day .

  4. All most every parent with a car can name at least one time in which they nearly forgot a child in the car. It can happen even if you have only one child.

Put your purse, briefcase, cell phone or something that you always need with you where the kids are sitting. When you reach for it, you’ll automatically notice if a sleeping child is still there. Tell your children’s bus drivers to do this, too.

When you walk past parked cars, just glance to see if a child is alone in one of them.
