Traffic Alert: NYC To Celebrate Giants Super Bowl Win With Ticker-Tape Parade


nycNew York, get ready for gridlock.

The Giants defeated the New England Patriots 21-17 Sunday night and there will be a ticker-tape parade and ceremony for the newly crowned Super Bowl champions on Tuesday in New York City.

The city is giving away tickets to the public for Tuesday’s City Hall ceremony for Big Blue, at which Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present the team with Keys to the City.

“Big Blue gave us a game to remember, and on Tuesday we’re going to give them a parade to remember,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

You can enter the giveaway by going to and by calling 311 through 11 a.m. Monday. Winners will be notified beginning at 2 p.m.

The parade will kick off Tuesday Battery Place and Washington Street at 11 a.m. and go up the “Canyon of Heroes” to Worth Street followed by the ceremony at City Hall.

Crews began constructing the stage and bleachers for Monday’s ceremony at City Hall while Giants fans began coming up with excuses to take off from work for the parade.

The following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic Tuesday morning:

All streets between Broadway and Church Streets from Canal to Pearl Street
Lafayette and Centre Street from Canal to Chambers
Park Row between Chambers Street and Broadway
Spruce Street between Gold Street and Park Row
Battery Place between Broadway and West Thames Streets
Worth Street between Church Street and Baxter Street
No Brooklyn Bridge access to and from Park Row

There may also be limited subway access in Lower Manhattan Tuesday morning.

The following subway stations may be closed for limited time periods:

Fulton Street 4, 5, A, C
Wall Street 4, 5
City Hall R

Commuters, Residents and Spectators traveling to Lower Manhattan are encouraged to use:
