  1. Rav Levi Yitzchock was the great great grandson of the Tzemach Tzedek. The Tzemach Tzedek’s oldest son was Rav Boruch Shalom. Rav Borush Shalom has a son Rav Levi Yitzchock who had a son Rav Boruch Schneur. Rav Boruch Schneur is the father of Rav Levi Yitzchock.

  2. Correction: “Rav Levi Yitzchak (ben Baruch Schneur) Schneerson (1878-1944). Born to the *grandson of the* oldest of the seven sons of the third Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rav Menachem Mendel (the Tzemach Tzedek)”.

So the 7th Rebbe’s yichus is: Rav Menachem Mendel ben Rav Levi Yitzchak ben Rav Baruch Shneur ben Rav Levi Yitzchak ben Rav Baruch Shalom ben Rav Menachem Mendel (the Tzemach Tzedek).

The story goes that although the Tzemach Tzedek ultimately chose his youngest son as his successor, he promised his oldest son, Rav Baruch Shalom, that ‘dor revii yashuvu heina’. The 7th Rebbe was the 4th generation after Rav Baruch Shalom.
