SOMETHING SMELLY, INDEED: Frum Family Gets Booted from Flight for Alleged Body Odor

An frum family vacationing in Miami were booted from their flight after passengers complained about their body odor.

“There’s no body odor that we have,” Yossi Adler said this morning at Miami International Airport. “There’s nothing wrong with us.” Adler, his wife and their 19-month-old daughter were preparing to fly back home to Detroit on Wednesday night when they were escorted off their American Airlines flight.

“All of a sudden, as soon as they took us off, they closed the gate and then they said, ‘Sorry, sir, some people complained you had body odor and we’re not letting you back on,'” Adler recalled. The Adlers said they were told their luggage would be taken off the plane, but that didn’t happen, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs.

  1. This happened to a friend some years ago. I don’t remember which airline but it was also out of Miami airport. Wow, I thought it was unusual then but maybe there is a pattern here.

  2. This doesn’t belong on your site. Yossi and his wife are wonderful people. Not sure why you’d promote this. It must be so embarrassing for them. Please remove.

  3. Pure anti semitism. Even if true and his baby needed a diaper change or he needed another spritz of deodorant, it’s still not reason to boot family from flight.

  4. What about the security issue of sending a persons luggage without the people on board the flight? Suddenly they don’t care about that, only the smelly jews.

  5. This is a ridiculous story and if us yidden would show we care we would start a campaign now; and boycott AA….. This is nothing more than hateful! I read some of the comments online and you see the hate people have to orthodox jews; they smell all the time etc… This is absolutely abnormal.

  6. Can you imagine if this happening to hum… let’s say a Muslim family, a Latino family, or maybe a Native American Family, or even an African American Family all he.. would break loose. This is pure unadulterated anti- Semitism. Oh and btw this is way worse than that Lakewood video that you posted yesterday, which was obviously very questionable anti-semitism as even many Frum Lakewood residents will tell you they strongly agree with the points of the video, albeit not with the general tone. However this incident is absolutely sickening and AA along with any individual involved should be ashamed of themselves.

  7. Last week Spirit and this week AA. If we boycott them, it will be difficult to get around. The scary thing though is that it seems like hatred to frum Yidden is increasing. I do not see how a boycott will help the underlying problem. We are such a minute portion of their business.

  8. I dont think this should be posted, even though its not something true, it isnt nice. And this shouldnt be discussed publically on a frum site. Thank you!

  9. So the cops and management don’t TRUST their own sense of smell, they just go by what a couple of people said.

Either they smelled or not, easily verifiable!!!!

Why not kick off the people who complained? It seems like they are the only ones who had a problem!

  10. And Muslims wearing those full body burkas in 90 degree weather, don’t smell?! Were they ever booted off a plane because of odor? Double standard hypocrite.
I will admit that on Motzaiay Shabbos I do tend to emit body odor. Chopped liver, cholent, & challa will do it every time.

  11. Too frum to fly, too frum to die. Take a shower and tell them when you did it. It might go better than “denying you stink”. I think we have more intelligence. No jump to antisemitism. It seems fishy to me.

  12. A rav in Israel told me that he advises people to always take a shower and change into a fresh change of clothes before flying.
“This may be the closest opportunity your seatmate has to interact with a charedi Jew. Make the experience as pleasant as possible.”

  13. Nazis on plane cried WOLF as Jews entered. This couple were business people and were immaculate. Jew bashing is becoming common like Nazi Europe.

  14. We also were treated very badly by American Airlines when flying out of Miami about 1 1/2 years ago. Even the stewardesses were shocked by the way the staff at the gate treated us. Weren’t looking to make headlines but plenty of non Jewish passengers came over to us at the baggage claim to express their support. Perhaps there is a pattern…
