Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer blasted California Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters for calling for the harassment of staffers in the Trump administration Monday, deeming it “not American.”
Schumer, the Democrat from New York, said no one should “call for harassment of political opponents,” adding that it’s “not right,” according to Politico reporter Burgess Everett.
Schumer’s comments come after Waters called for the harassment and intimidation of members of Trump’s cabinet in a heated Saturday speech, saying if “you see anybody from that cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them. Tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere!”
