Russia Demands UN Meeting Over US ‘Act of Aggression’ in Syria


Russia has called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council over the US’s airstrike on a Assad regime air base in Syria, 9news reports.

Describing the attack as an “act of aggression against a UN member”, the Kremlin demanded an “urgent convocation”.

Russia has been a long-running ally of Assad’s regime and it is believed there were Russian forces at the Al Sharyat Airfield near Homs, but the strike did not target those sections.

The US informed Russia about its cruise missile attack on the air base before the strikes took place, the Pentagon said. Read more at 9news.
