This year’s dinner, a milestone event marking twenty years of commitment to sustaining families and saving homes for our community’s nitzrachim, is garnering a warm feeling of support and solidarity for Tomchei Shabbos across the entire spectrum of the kehilla, at every level.  Hundreds of yungeleit and balebattim have already signed on to the recently launched Sponsor-a-family campaign, spearheaded by an army of neighborhood representatives and led by Tomchei Shabbos’s dynamic Director of Development Rabbi Yaakov Yitzchok Trainer.

“The presence of every yochid at the dinner is crucial to its success,” says Rabbi Trainer. “Even those who have already given or signed on to the campaign are asked to make every effort to attend personally. It behooves us to show support for this ‘back-to-basics’ tzeddakah and for the hundreds of families that are bearing the brunt of the economic downturn.”

Tomchei Shabbos’s budget for the upcoming year is projected to hit $2 million.
