rav-shlomo-miller-bais-horaah[Video and photos below.] Lakewood, NJ – A large crowd gathered yesterday for the Bais Horaah of Lakewood’s Hascholas Habinyan event held at the site of its future home at the corner of Madison Avenue and Fourth Street.

The Bais Hora’ah was founded over seven years ago with a primary goal of providing a comprehensive resource of halacha that could adequately service the rapidly growing kehillah of bnei Torah with its growing number of shailos in daily life. The importance of the role that the Bais Horaah plays in the Lakewood community was stressed by the speakers at the event, including Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, rosh yeshiva of Bais Medrash Govoah; Rav Avrohom Spitzer, Skverer Dayan of Lakewood; and the guest speaker, Rav Moshe Tuvia Lieff, rov of Agudas Yisroel Bais Binyomin of Flatbush.

The event also featured divrei bracha from Rav Shlomo Miller, rosh kollel of Kollel Avreichim of Toronto, under whose oversight the Bais Hora’ah operates. Rav Miller stressed the need for proper hora’ah in halacha and the importance of producing competent poskim.

The program was held in a specially erected tent behind the future building of the Bais Horaah. Despite inclement weather, a large crowd turned out in recognition of the vital role the Bais Horaah, under the close guidance of Rav Miller, plays in Lakewood and beyond. The formal program was followed by the pouring of cement.

The Bais Horaah receives over 130,000 calls a year from all over the world and is one of the most respected botei horaah on the continent.
