Poland Seeking To Punish Anyone Referring Nazi Camps as “Polish Camps”

It may sound absurd or like pure semantics, but Poland is serious, as it seeks punishments for those who use the phrase “Polish death camp.”

In an effort to eliminate the misleading phrase, Ynet reports, Warsaw is drawing up new regulations to punish those who refer to the Nazi concentration or death camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Sobibor and Treblinka, among others, as “Polish camps.”

The effort was announced by Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro.

Poland says that it was not responsible for Holocaust-era camps on its territory, as they were operated by the Nazis in occupied Poland.

Ziobro said that Poles “are blasphemed in the world, in Europe, even in Germany” as “Holocaust perpetrators, that in Poland there were Polish concentration camps, Polish gas chambers,” Reuters reports. “Enough with this lie. There has to be responsibility.”
