Lakewood Police Arrest 3 Men in Theft of Vehicle

lakewoodThree men were arrested minutes after a morning police briefing that included a discussion about a stolen vehicle taken from a lot located across the street from Lakewood police headquarters. The men were charged with weapons offenses and possession of a stolen vehicle Sunday morning, said Detective Lt. Joseph Isnardi.

The arrests took place minutes after the Sunday morning police shift had been briefed on outstanding matters. One of the briefing items was a description of a stolen blue Ford Explorer and its license plate tags, Isnardi said.

Patrolman Erik Menck left the briefing and was driving on Lexington Avenue when he saw the Explorer traveling on Main Street.

Menck could see the men in the vehicle appearing to hide something while he was
signaling the vehicle to pull over just before 7 a.m. Sunday.

Menck stopped the Explorer driven by Eric Placa Ayala, 18, of Woodlake Manor Drive, Isnardi said.

David Conde, 25, and Luis Ramos Temozihui, 24, both of Holly Street, Lakewood were passengers in a vehicle.

Placa Ayala, Conde and Temozihui were each charged with possession of stolen
property. Menck discovered an imitation firearm in the vehicle and charged Conde and Temozihui with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, Isnardi said.

Placa Ayala was additionally charged with hindering his own apprehension because he was unruly and uncooperative during the booking process, Isnardi said.

Conde and Temozihui were both held without bail from Immigrations and Customs
Enforcement and had $20,000 bail on the weapon and stolen property charges. Placa Ayala was not listed as in custody.
