In First, Israel’s First Lady Assigned Bodyguard

Israel’s first lady has been assigned a personal security detail for the first time since her husband, President Reuven Rivlin, took office last year, Army Radio reported Thursday.

The decision to provide Nechama Rivlin with a bodyguard was made following a security assessment in response to the recent wave of Arab terror across Israel.

Rivlin was known to walk around Yerushalayim alone, doing her own grocery shopping, visiting museums and walking to the medical clinic where she is treated regularly.

However, in light of the increased violence which has frequently struck the capital, a personal security guard will now accompany Rivlin, Arutz Sheva reports.
