IDF Says Preparing To Recruit Reservists As Security Cabinet Meeting Underway


The IDF spokesperson Ronen Manelis told the army radio station that Israel was preparing to recruit reserve forces, a move that could suggest a ground operation in the Gaza Strip is imminent.

Manelis said the call-up of reserves was expected in the next few hours and would involve the army recruiting “vital” reserve forces, but “if needed we’ll will expand that.”

The escalated violence has sparked fears that a fourth war between Israel and the Gaza Strip’s ruling Hamas is on the horizon, as over 400 rockets have been launched towards Israeli cities, resulting in heavy Israeli retaliatory airstrikes.
