It is with great regret that Matzav.com announces the passing of Rav Shlomo Elyashiv zt’’l, the eldest son of Rav Yosef Shalom Elyashiv zt”l, at the age of 87.
Rav Shlomo was a tremendous talmud chochom who spent his years learning at Kollel Avrechim while refusing to accept any offers to hold a position.
A few years ago, Rav Shlomo collapsed and since then was paralyzed. He resided during that time at the Herzog House in Yerushalayim. His wife, Rebbetzin Fruma, passed away three years ago.
Rav Shlomo is survived by sons and sons-in-law. His grandson, R’ Shmuel Elyashiv, serves as a member of the Modi’in Illit city council.
The levaya took place on Motzoei Shabbos at the Shamgar Chapel in Yerushalayim.
