Gates Book Dishes on Obama

robert-gatesAccording to former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, President Obama was frustrated by the Afghanistan policy and started growing skeptical of the troop bump he ordered there, doubting Gen. David Petraeus and skeptical of Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

“As I sat there, I thought: The president doesn’t trust his commander, can’t stand Karzai, doesn’t believe in his own strategy and doesn’t consider the war to be his,”

Gates writes about a 2011 situation room meeting in his new memoir. “For him, it’s all about getting out.”

Gates’s book, “Duty: Memoirs of a Secretary at War,” details the Obama administration’s “controlling nature,” and the inner-circle feuds between Obama’s closest advisors. Read more at The New York Times.
