Elizabeth Warren Wants To Abolish The Electoral College

Presidential hopeful Elizabeth Warren on Monday night during a town hall called for abolishing the Electoral College.

“My view is that every vote matters,” Warren said to applause. “And the way we can make that happen is that we can have national voting and that means get rid of the Electoral College — and every vote counts.”

“Come a general election, presidential candidates don’t come to places like Mississippi, they also don’t come to places like California or Massachusetts, because we’re not the battleground states,” Warren said.

  1. The fact the Republicans George W. Bush and Donald Trump won the presidential election by winning the electoral vote despite having fewer popular votes than their Democratic opponents has NOTHING to do with Sen. Warren’s stance on this issue. It’s pure coincidence, and had the outcomes been reversed (Al Gore and Hilary Clinton winning election despite losing the popular vote), purehearted Sen. Warren would’ve been just as strident in her call for the abolition of the Electoral College. Right?

  2. Doesn’t Chief Warren realize that the Electoral College was established for the same reason that the Senate was – to protect the rights and interests of individual smaller states? If one goes, so should the other, and her position with it. Is she ready to retire to the kitchen?

  3. Just a Democrat loser pandering to all the screwball notions floating around. Beside offering free stuff all over the place. Mess Up America Again is their slogan.

  4. Abolishing the Electoral College would require a constitutional amendment. The smaller states would never agree to this, so it will never happen (the legislatures of 38 states need to vote in favor of an amendment, in addition to two-thirds of both chambers of Congress).

  5. Abolishing Electoral College will not help much if Voter ID will be implemented and illegal immigrants will not be able to vote and neither will anyone be able to vote more than once.
