Dept. of Defense to Invite Experts to Hack Pentagon

The U.S. Department of Defense will invite computer-security experts to hack into the Pentagon as part of the agency’s efforts to fortify its cyberdefense programs.

The DOD initiative mirrors that of commercial software companies that offer rewards to hackers who can spot security vulnerabilities in the coding; it will be the first “cyber bug” bounty program in the U.S. government’s history.

Participants (hopefully) will not gain access to the department’s classified networks and they won’t be allowed to launch cyberattacks on DOD public sites. Read more at PC World.
