Bnei Brak: Lowest Cancer Rate

An annual Health Ministry report gave Bnei Brak the lowest cancer rate among 16 of Israel’s largest cities.

Among men, Bnei Brak had 264 cases out of 100,000, while Ashdod had the highest of rate of 379. The national average is 330 cases per 100,000.

Women there also had the lowest rate in Israel, with 264 cases per 100,000 compared to Cholon’s highest rate of 351.

Smoking was lowest in Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh as well, at 15 percent compared to an average 23 percent in all towns.

Bnei Brak also led in self-reported wellness, with 92 percent saying their health was “good” or “very good” compared to an average rate of 84 percent.

  1. This is not surprising, as the Sar HaTorah, HaGaon HaRav Chayim Kanievsky, Shlita lives in Bnei Brak; and his Torah learning and Tzidkus protect the city.
