A Message From Hatzolah Regarding The Measles Outbreak

  1. Before the 1970s everyone had measles just like they had chicken pox. Children today get measles EVEN if they got the vaccination. No reason people should risk the life of their own children with vaccinations and make them ch”v into zombies.

    • Hello my 5:03 am friend, do you seat in your parents’ basement, wearing pajamas, through a sleepless night of cutting and pasting from tinfoil-hat websites?

  2. Hospital? Complications? Meningitis, Encephalitis?
I keep reading on this website, posted by highly educated frum people, sometimes even in readable English, that measles is a normal and routine childhood illness, and that there is nothing wrong with “some fever, and a little rash and cough”.
Is the Hatzolah being “sheeple”, and sponsored by the Big Pharma, too, just like ALL the physicians, including the observant Jewish ones? Why haven’t the Hatzolah leaders read the multitude of frantic cut-and-paste rants about the great conspiracy and persecution being perpetrated against the anti-vaccers by the world governments, banks, and the entire medical and pharmaceutical industries?
After all, the Internet itself, at least some of it, proves the deniers to be in the right.

Would the Hatzolah stop the hysteria, already, because, while they are saving lives, some people want to have the freedom to get others seriously ill. It is their right, after all.

    • I have some friends in the anti vaxx community. They listen to the Gary Null show everyday at 12:00 pm. In New York, I think it’s on 99.5 FM. They take his every word as if it’s Toras Moshe mesinia. He stokes the anger at all the evil pharmaceutical empires. If you take vaccines, your going to die a horrible death. One must NEVER take an asprin or enter a hospital. If one gets hit by a car, just get someone to carry you home and let your body heal by itself. A real dangerous nut-case. He’s in to holistic healing. Only natural homegrown pesticide free organic mulch may be eaten. All water is poison. He is also a rabid anti semite mishgav zacharnik. Yes, he also believes the Israeli Mossad along with George Bush brought down the Twin Towers.
Can you argue or reason with HIS sheeple???

    • Nobody is getting others seriously ill, but those who know the truth have the right to save their children from getting seriously ill which is even according to Jewish Law.

  3. The CDC states as follows. Immediatetly before 1963 (the first measles vaccine) there were 6,000 measles deaths in the U.S. per year. So I comment. That is not “just like chicken pox” which is something like 100 average per year as recorded around 1972. Second, thanks to things like modern ICU and nutrition even the 6,000 number of measles deaths was greatly mitigated from what it would-have-been, but at a cost that would soon lead to bankrupting the entire medical system had it continued. (Chicken pox treatment was no where near as expenses.) We know that the modern ICU et al had mitigated the measles deaths (despite the 6,000 figure) because before such modern (and expensive) medical treatment the number of deaths were much greater. Yet these unspeakable anti-vaxers dare to use the fact that modern and expensive medical treatment had mitigated what the deaths used-to-be and reduced the deaths to “only” 6,000 as alleged proof that measles vaccines are not what reduced the 6,000 number down to nearly zero.

  4. WE ARE ALL GUILTY!FOR NOT CRUSHING THIS ANTI VAX recklessness when it began, i am a head counselor in a camp and a melamed didnt want to ” shter his sholom bayis ” so he allowed his wife to not vax we only found out after having his 2 yr old brought in from camp to colombia on shabbos by hatzolah . we waited a few days and than he lost his job & we felt terrible. but no vax is not something a spouse can give in on its a t least a safek pikuach nefesh. we learnt the hard way and no rebbe gets any bungalows unless they vax . and a popular frum therapy center for ocd patients have also instituted that if momy doesnt vax than no CBT for you ( we will attempt with rachmonus to convince and help her understand our position

    • What was the child brought to columbia for? Did it have anything to do with the fact that he wasn’t vaccinated? If you are telling this story, please explain. thanks

  5. Not taking a stand but whoever says there is no risk with vaccination is oblivious to the facts this information was copy and pasted from the CDC’s website
    MMR vaccine side-effects
    (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella)
What are the risks from MMR vaccine?
With any medicine, including vaccines, there is a chance of reactions. These are usually mild and go away on their own, but serious reactions are also possible.

Getting MMR vaccine is much safer than getting measles, mumps, or rubella disease. Most people who get MMR vaccine do not have any problems with it.

After MMR vaccination, a person might experience:

    Minor events:

    Sore arm from the injection
Redness or rash at the injection site
Swelling of glands in the cheeks or neck
If these events happen, they usually begin within 2 weeks after the shot. They occur less often after the second dose.

    Moderate events:

Seizure (jerking or staring) often associated with fever
Temporary pain and stiffness in the joints, mostly in teenage or adult women
Temporary low platelet count, which can cause unusual bleeding or bruising
    Rash all over body
    Severe events occur very rarely:

Long-term seizures, coma, or lowered consciousness
    Brain damage
Other things that could happen after this vaccine:

People sometimes faint after medical procedures, including vaccination. Sitting or lying down for about 15 minutes can help prevent fainting and injuries caused by a fall. Tell your provider if you feel dizzy or have vision changes or ringing in the ears.
Some people get shoulder pain that can be more severe and longer-lasting than routine soreness that can follow injections. This happens very rarely.
Any medication can cause a severe allergic reaction. Such reactions to a vaccine are estimated at about 1 in a million doses, and would happen within a few minutes to a few hours after the vaccination.
As with any medicine, there is a very remote chance of a vaccine causing a serious injury or death.

The safety of vaccines is always being monitored. For more information, visit: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/.

This information is based on the MMR VIS.

    • Dear Sheker,
Here is a fresh cut and paste from CDC website:

      MMRV Vaccine Side Effects
The MMRV vaccine is very safe, and it is effective at preventing measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella. Vaccines, like any medicine, can have side effects. Most people who get MMRV vaccine do not have any serious problems with it. Getting MMRV vaccine is much safer than getting measles, mumps, rubella, or varicella.

Common Side Effects of MMRV Vaccine

      Sore arm from the shot
      Mild rash
Some children who get MMRV vaccine may have a seizure caused by fever (febrile seizure) after getting the shot. However, these seizures are not common and have not been associated with any long-term problems.

Rarely, the MMRV vaccine can cause swelling of neck or cheeks or a temporary low platelet count.

Extremely rarely, the vaccine’s ingredients cause severe allergic (anaphylactic) reactions. Children should not get MMRV vaccine if they have ever had a life-threatening allergic reaction to any component of the vaccine, including gelatin or the antibiotic neomycin.

  6. The anti vaxers are reshoim. They should not be given any kibudim in shul and their children banned from school. Perhaps all anti vaxers should make a commune and live together. Place someone with polio or smallpox there. Oh there is no more smallpox or polio I wonder why

  7. If any one of these anti vaxxer nuts came into my shul, I’d take a baseball bat to them in the same way that if a guy comes into shul with a gun it would be expected and heroic to shoot him first.

    • … and then you scream when the goyim post hateful comments!

whichever “side” you’re on -please don’t post hateful & threatening info online or anywhere.

(While I think that some of those people are nuts, I find it interesting how I only see one side with this kind of vitriol)

      • You see the vitriol because we are concerned for the health of our children, and don’t want them to be killed, R”L, by anti-vaxxers.

Enough already! They should be isolated. And jailed for threatening public safety.

    • I hope the FBI comes after you. You are not allowed to make threats to anyone. The little kids that run Matzav think they are immune to scrutiny from the Feds. They will have a rude awakening.

  8. Those who are mchallel Shem Shamayim r’l by utilizing mesira and arkois are to be ostracized as per shulchan orach. Once the Rabbanim take a strong position on what is blatant in shulchan orach we can discuss anti vaxxers

  9. if my kid is healthy, he cannot make your kid sick. anti vaxxers are not killing you! The anti vaxxers are also “concerned for the health of our children, and don’t want them to be killed, r”L “by adverse vaccine reactions

  10. Dear NYJdnik, I’ll give you a benefit of doubt that you are clinically dumb. Otherwise you’d be considered a rodeif:
No, measles vaccine is not “to prevent an individual to get sick”, as everyone’s immune systems are different, and the measles vaccine is designed to disrupt the disease’s transfer through making a certain critical percentage of the population immune non carriers. When enough idiots refuse the vaccine, then the disease has enough potential carriers to begin spreading again. Suffering for your idiocy would be people with compromised immune system, pregnant women, newborn babies, old people.
No, your “healthy” kid can make others sick, as there is such a thing as symptomless gestation stage.
No, you are not saving your kid from turning into a zombie nor being possessed by evil spirits. For those not severely allergic to some of the ingredients such as gelatin(that means allergic to chicken soup – a probability low enough to border on impossibility), this vaccine has decades long perfect safety record, with one day of fever being the worst possible side effect. You may try a silver chain garlic necklace though, to ward off vampires or something.

  11. By not being vaccinated u put others in danger infants small children the elderly and of course those that have imune system issues or take cemo with what i have had experience went through it with a child.I had to ask staff at one point to kick out a visitor because he didn’t wash his hands after being asked several times

  12. I have listened to parts of the recent ACIP meeting that took place in October. ACIP (part of the CDC) approves vaccines and discusses other issues related to vaccines. In the video below at the -31.46 mark, I was shocked to hear that ACIP is now recommending to doctors to not count these adverse reactions after a first dose of DtaP as reasons to not give subsequent doses of the DtaP vaccine to that child. The adverse reactions that no longer count are: 105 degree fever within 48 hours of the dose; persistent, inconsolable crying lasting more than three hours within 48 hours; collapse or shock-like state within 48 hours, and/or seizures within 72 hours. If you find this recommendation frightening, I suggest you speak to your child’s pediatrician to find out if he or she will be following the ACIP guidelines. (If you have the time, you can also go to the -39:12 mark and judge for yourself how responsible the ACIP is when they decide on a new vaccine – Hepatis A for homeless people was discussed and voted upon at the meeting.)

PS….It was reported at the meeting that 1,238 claims were brought to the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program and the government paid out $266 million to these families for damage done to their children.

PS…I think people should write more respectfully in their comments. Name-calling and threats don’t make anyone look good. If you have something to say, try to say it nicely and back up what you say with citations/sources if possible.

    • are antivaxers saying doctors in the frum community are intentionally causing harm for profit? a simple question. can any antivaxer answer this

    • and what about babies who don’t get their vaccines early? or the immunocompromised? like those being treated for cancer? this can affect more than those who are ideologically opposed to vaccines.

  13. are antivaxers saying doctors in the frum community are intentionally causing harm for profit? a simple question. can any antivaxer answer this

  14. I have now officially moved the question “Will he be an anti-vaxer” to the #1 shidduch show-stopper question. It now goes before “Is he a smoker”. Unfortunately there is no known treatment for Anti-Vaxer disease.
