Tonight, hespeidim and divrei hisorerus will be delivered in memory of Rav Binyomin Paler zt”l, rosh hayeshiva of Yeshiva Mekor Chaim, whose yahrtzeit is today, 5 Av. A minyan for Minchah will take place at 7: 30 p.m., followed by the hespeidim at 7:45 p.m. The gathering will be held at Yeshiva Mekor Chaim, located at 1571 55th Street in Boro Park.
Rav Paler, who was 92 when he was niftar 9 years ago, was a talmid muvhak of the Brisker Rov, Rav Yitzchok Zev Soloveitchik zt”l. His mother was a direct descendent of the Rama.
Born in Brisk, Rav Binyomin studied in Toras Chessed of Rav Moshe Sokolovsky zt”l, author of the Imrei Moshe. In 1931, he transferred to the yeshiva of the Brisker Rov. He traveled with the Mirrer Yeshiva to Shanghai, where he drew a kesher with the legendary mashgiach, Rav Yechezkel Levenstein zt”l. After the war, he arrived in the United States. He married a daughter of Rav Shmuel Ehrenfeld of Mattesdorf. In 1967, he founded Yeshiva Mekor Chaim, which he led for 33 years.
