The U.S. will announce a series of measures aimed at retaliating against Russia over its alleged efforts to meddle in the presidential election through a series of cyberattacks aimed at Democrats, CNN reported. The retaliation efforts are reportedly expected to include naming the people involved and expanding sanctions against Moscow.
At his year-end press conference earlier this month, President Obama indicated that senior leadership within the Russian government ordered the hacks of the Democratic National Committee network as well as the email account of Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, John Podesta. A government report ordered by Obama earlier this month on foreign hacking of U.S. political institutions is due to be released in January. Read more at CNN.
