The Bais Hamikdosh was destroyed on Tisha B’Av because of sinas chinam and lashon hara. The World-Wide Tisha B’Av Event presented by the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation provides a powerful antidote – the message of ahavas Yisroel and shemiras halashon.
In shuls, camps, bungalow colonies and communities worldwide, Jews will take part in the world’s largest yearly worldwide Torah event. In addition to this event, driving the largest initiative for shemiras halashon in the world, 20,000 children and 10,000 adults are participating and benefit daily from the inspiring and informative programs and materials developed by the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation.
Today’s video presentation, titled “What Tisha B’Av Should Mean to You,” which will be shown in 16 countries, at 700 sites, to 50,000 people, will feature Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky, Rav Matisyahu Salomon, Rav Gamliel Rabinovitz, Rav Yissocher Frand, Rav Ephraim Eliyahu Shapiro, Rav Eli Mansour and Rav Dovid Orlofsky. Please note that not all the featured speakers appear in all presentations. Check your local listing to see which program is being shown in your area.
During the past 20 years, the Tisha B’Av Event from the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation has become a focal point of Tisha B’Av for Yidden around the globe. It places the day’s fasting and mourning into context, inspiring people to work together, bolstered by a sense of unity, toward real strides in the mitzvos bein adam lachaveiro that are essential to set the stage for the geulah. Each year, participants contact the Chofetz Chaim Heritage Foundation to report how the program changed their outlook and sometimes their lives.
