Mitt Romney, asked if he would have given the order to go after Osama Bin Laden, as President Obama’s new video and his campaign aides have suggested he wouldn’t have done, per Politico’s Ginger Gibson: “Of course, even Jimmy Carter would have given that order.”
The question, which came on a ropeline in Portsmouth, N.H., is one Romney will likely get asked repeatedly. The remark went somewhere that most Republicans haven’t – the criticism has been that Obama deserves credit for the mission, but crossed the line when his team slammed Romney. This is a new level of OBL fallout, a day before the anniversary of his killing.
Also, since we haven’t had much on this page on this topic over the last few days, it’s worth noting that George W. Bush’s first ad of the 2004 campaign featured footage of a stretcher getting carried out of Ground Zero with remains, as well as the charred shell of the World Trade Center.
