Though she hasn’t done much to suggest that she will be running for president next year, Sarah Palin said Thursday night that she has “the fire in my belly” to make a bid for the Republican nomination.
In an interview with Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren on Thursday night, the former Alaska governor said she has the inner drive to run, though she hasn’t decided whether to launch a campaign.
“I’m so adamantly supportive of the good, traditional things about America and our free enterprise system, and I want to make sure that America is put back on the right track,” Palin said. “We’ll do that by defeating Obama in 2012. I have that fire in my belly.”
But, she added, her final choice is about more than a gut feeling.
“It’s a matter for me of some kind of practical, pragmatic decisions that have to be made,” she said. “One is, with a large family understanding the huge amount of scrutiny and the sacrifices that have to be made on my children’s part in order to see their mama run for president. But yeah, the fire in the belly – it’s there.”
