IDF rabbonim cried out against the army’s discrimination against donors of sifrei Torah to the armed forces. In the course of devising new protocol for donation ceremonies, the army has temporarily forbidden people who donate sifrei Torah to enter army camps, yet it did not extend this restriction to two other donor categories.
“This is scandalous,” the rabbonim complained. “Why is there a solution for other issues while only bringing in a sefer Torah is a problem? Can the army not instate temporary rules such as limiting the number of donors and guests allowed to enter bases for the hachnossah of the Sefer Torah? Is this less important than the visits of [other] donors?”
